Powered Ground Rosemary

$4.95

Powered Ground Rosemary is a finely ground, small shrub-like plant in the mint family that is native to the Mediterranean and now widely cultivated in temperate regions throughout the world. The pine-like leaves of the herb are highly fragrant due to the presence of carnosol, rosmarinic acid and other active compounds. Because these compounds are such potent antioxidants, the oleoresin extract of rosemary is used as a preservative to prevent rancidity in other oils and in cosmetic preparations.

Ground Rosemary is a convenient way to add rosemary’s unique, piney, woodsy flavor without its fibrous needle-like leaves. Light to dark green with brown undertones. Pungent, slightly piney rosemary aroma and flavor. Powdery texture.

Benefits:

Powered Ground Rosemary can traditionally be found to season meat or tomato sauce in Italian Cuisine. An essential ingredient to cook a leg of lamb, this product is also wonderful on focaccia bread. Other great applications include wine punch or apple jelly but should be used sparingly.

Usage:

Rosemary has a piney flavor and a tea-like aroma that pairs well with lamb, pork, chicken, and rabbit. Ground, it is used mostly in sauces, soups, and baking savory dishes such as muffins or corn bread. As most ground spices do, rosemary seems to lose its flavor quickly, so only buy what you need.

Dried Rosemary is typically whole and has not been crushed. Both whole and crushed Rosemary is dried. Depending on what recipe you are making it really shouldn’t make a lot of difference in which one you use.  The dried leaf is a popular culinary herb used to flavor roasted meats, vegetables, soups, sauces, and breads.

To maintain freshness, this spice is shipped in glass bottles. That’s because glass jars can preserve the freshness of spices for up to 2 years.
