This style of sauce is perfect for this region where barbecue means pork, often whole hog, pork shoulder, or barbecue ribs.
Flaming Fiend is a true Carolina Mustard & Vinegar barbecue sauce complete with a poke, twist of heat, and hint of sweetness. Most people who use and love mustard based sauces are militant about how they should be prepared so we’ve taken extra care not to offend. One thing for sure, a good barbecue sauce should give foods a complimentary flavor. This is a thick yellowish-brown paste with a sharp taste made from the ground seeds of a mustard plant (yellow mustard) and other ingredients. Some ingredients are a bit different from traditional mustard sauces and that is what makes Flaming Fiend so unique.
We make Flaming Fiend properly balanced to taste spicy and sweet, and that is always good for a nod. We recommend you generously slather the sauce on the meat 1/2 hour before removing it from the fire.
