Self help books are a genre of literature that aim to provide readers with advice and strategies. The aim of the advice is to improve their lives in various aspects. Aspects including mental health, relationships, finances, career, and personal development. These books essentially guiding them to “help themselves”. These books work by addressing personal issues and challenges through actionable steps.

Many people may be skeptical of the benefits of reading these books. There is research that shows that these books can actually be helpful. A study published in the Journal of Positive Psychology found that people who read self-help books had better mental health outcomes than those who didn’t.
